National level team members travels extensively throughout the year. Cougar
Diving Club has always had excellent experiences on our team trips and the team
maintains a good reputation throughout the diving community. These guidelines
have been written down so that all divers know what is expected of them. This
code is generally accepted by programs nationwide and is supported by
United States Diving.
1. All diving
program participants will abide by this Code of Conduct.
2. On trips
requiring overnight lodging, team members are required to stay in rooms or areas
assigned by the coaching staff.
3. If members of
the opposite sex are in a room not assigned to them, doors and curtains must
remain open at all times.
4. Everyone must be in their assigned room at the designated curfew time and no one except assigned roommates are allowed in the room after that curfew tune. Lights will be out no later am 1/2 hour after the curfew time. Appropriate curfews will be established for each trip by the coaching staff.
5.
Use of alcohol or any drugs other than those prescribed by a physician or
approved by a parent or coach are not permitted.
6. Indiscreet,
destructive, disrespectful or any other behavior considered to be detrimental to
the program will not be tolerated.
7. When certain
meets require traveling, the coaching staff will supervise the travel
arrangements and when possible Cougar Diving Team divers will travel together.
8. All meets
require total participant support. All participants are required to remain at
the pool site while other team members are still in competition (unless given
permission to do otherwise). This helps participant morale and scores, and will
benefit you as well as your teammates.
9. Additional
rules may apply at certain meets.
a. The diver may
be withdrawn from the competition.
b. The diver may
be sent home at his/her expense.
c. The diver may
lose all program privileges including all travel expense monies paid for the
trip.
d. The diver may
be suspended from the program for a length of time depending on the severity of
the infraction.
e. The diver may
be dismissed from the program.
The coaching staff
will make every effort to see that the diving program participants are properly
chaperoned at all meets. The burden however must lie with both the parent and
diver as well as the staff. We advise that all parents take the time to review
the Cougar Diving Travel Code of Conduct
with their divers and to fully explain the sensitivity and responsibilities
that go along with overnight travel.
